Ductless Mini Split Installation & Repair
Additions, converted garages, casitas, home offices, and that one bedroom on the west side of the house that is always eight degrees warmer.
A ductless mini split delivers conditioned air directly to a room without any ductwork, using a small outdoor compressor connected to one or more wall-mounted indoor heads. Reliable Air installs and services mini splits throughout Phoenix — ideal for garages, additions, casitas, and rooms the main system cannot keep comfortable.
Mini splits solve a problem that is very common in Phoenix housing stock: a room that the central system was never designed to serve. Converted garages, Arizona rooms, additions built off the back of a 1970s ranch, and detached casitas all fall into this category. Extending ductwork to them usually costs more and performs worse than simply giving the space its own system.
They are also genuinely efficient. Inverter-driven compressors modulate rather than cycling on and off, which means they hold temperature precisely and draw far less power than a window unit or a portable. In a garage workshop, that difference is dramatic.
Mini split services
- Single-zone and multi-zone system design and installation
- Garage, casita, workshop, and addition cooling
- Line-set routing planned for a clean exterior appearance
- Proper condensate routing, including condensate pumps where gravity drainage is not available
- Indoor head cleaning and blower wheel service
- Inverter board, sensor, and communication fault diagnosis
A mini split is usually the right call when
- One room runs consistently hotter or colder than the rest of the house
- You are converting a garage into living or working space
- You added a room and the existing system cannot keep up
- You want to cool a detached casita or guest house independently
- You need to condition a space without cutting into existing ductwork
- You want to keep one area cool overnight without running the whole house system
What working with us looks like
Site walk and load sizing
We size the head to the room, accounting for insulation, glazing, and heat sources like a west-facing garage door.
Placement planning
Indoor head position for airflow, outdoor unit position for service access and noise, line-set path for appearance.
Clean installation
Proper wall penetration and sealing, line set evacuated to spec, condensate routed correctly.
Setup and demonstration
We configure the remote or app and show you the modes that actually matter.
What it costs
A single-zone mini split installation typically runs between roughly $4,000 and $7,500 depending on capacity, line-set length, and electrical work required. Multi-zone systems price per additional head.
Mini Split Systems questions, answered
Can a mini split cool a garage in Phoenix?
Yes, and it is one of the most common installations we do. The key is sizing for the real load — an uninsulated garage door facing west adds enormous heat gain. We often recommend insulating the door alongside the installation, which lets a smaller and cheaper unit hold temperature comfortably.
How many rooms can one mini split cover?
One indoor head serves one open area effectively. It will not push air meaningfully around corners or through doorways. For multiple rooms you want either multiple heads on a multi-zone outdoor unit, or a ducted mini split air handler serving a small zone.
Are mini splits noisy?
Indoor heads are remarkably quiet — typically in the 19 to 32 decibel range on low, which is quieter than a refrigerator. The outdoor unit is comparable to a small condenser and considerably quieter than a window unit.
Do mini splits provide heat as well?
Nearly all modern mini splits are heat pumps and heat as effectively as they cool. In an Arizona garage or casita that means year-round comfort from one system.
