A/C Repair in Phoenix & the Valley

When the unit quits in July, you do not need a sales pitch. You need a technician who shows up, finds the actual fault, and tells you what it costs before touching a wrench.

The short answer

Reliable Air provides same-day air conditioning repair throughout Phoenix and the surrounding Valley. A licensed technician diagnoses the system on site, explains the failure in plain language, and gives you a flat repair price before any work begins. Most common failures — capacitors, contactors, blower motors, low refrigerant — are fixed in a single visit.

Phoenix does not give an air conditioner an easy life. A system here runs eight or nine months a year, often at 110°F ambient, which means components rated for a decade elsewhere give out here in six or seven years. Most of what we see is not catastrophic. It is a $180 capacitor that failed at 4pm on the hottest Friday of the year.

Our diagnostic process is deliberately boring: we measure rather than guess. Superheat and subcooling, static pressure, amp draw on the compressor and condenser fan, temperature split across the coil. Those numbers tell us whether you have a refrigerant problem, an airflow problem, or an electrical problem — and they keep us from selling you a system you do not need.

What a repair visit covers

  • Full system diagnostic — electrical, refrigerant, and airflow, not just the obvious symptom
  • Capacitor, contactor, relay, and control board testing under real load
  • Refrigerant pressure and charge verification with leak search when readings are low
  • Blower motor, condenser fan motor, and compressor amp-draw readings against nameplate
  • Condensate drain clearing and safety-switch test
  • Written findings with a flat repair price, plus a repair-versus-replace opinion when the system is near end of life

Call us when you notice

  • Air coming out of the vents is not cold, or barely cooler than the room
  • The outdoor unit hums but the fan does not spin
  • The system runs constantly and never reaches the thermostat setting
  • Breaker trips when the A/C kicks on
  • Water stains on the ceiling under an attic air handler
  • A hard, metallic grinding or a high-pitched squeal from the condenser
  • Ice on the copper line at the outdoor unit

What working with us looks like

1

You call, a person answers

Describe what the system is doing. We triage over the phone and tell you honestly whether it can wait until morning.

2

On-site diagnostic

A licensed tech tests the system end to end and shows you the readings that point to the fault.

3

Flat price, your call

You get a fixed repair price before work starts. Approve it, decline it, or ask for options. No pressure either way.

4

Repaired and verified

We fix it, then re-measure the system to confirm it is actually performing — not just running.

What it costs

We charge a flat diagnostic fee that is applied to the repair if you move forward. Repairs are quoted as a fixed price, not an hourly meter, so a difficult job does not become a more expensive job halfway through.

A note on pricing pages Any HVAC company quoting exact prices online without seeing your system is guessing. These ranges are honest ballparks from work we actually do in the Valley. The real number comes after a technician looks at your equipment — and you will have it in writing before anything starts.

A/C Repair questions, answered

How fast can you get here for an A/C repair in Phoenix?

Most no-cool calls placed before early afternoon get a same-day appointment. During peak summer weeks we triage by severity — homes with infants, elderly residents, or medical needs move to the front of the line. If we cannot reach you the same day we will tell you honestly instead of leaving you waiting.

How much does A/C repair cost in Arizona?

The most common repairs — a run capacitor, a contactor, a condensate float switch — typically land between roughly $150 and $450 installed. Blower or condenser fan motors run higher. A compressor or evaporator coil replacement on an older system frequently costs enough that replacement becomes the better financial decision, and we will say so plainly.

Should I repair or replace my air conditioner?

A useful rule: multiply the repair cost by the age of the system. If the result exceeds roughly the cost of a new system, replace it. Practically, a unit under eight years old with a single failed part is worth repairing. A unit past twelve years on R-22 refrigerant with a failing compressor is not.

Do you repair all brands of air conditioners?

Yes. Trane, Carrier, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, American Standard, York, Amana, Bryant, Day & Night, and the rest. Residential split systems, package units on the roof, gas packs, and heat pumps are all standard work for us.

Why is my A/C running but not cooling?

The three usual causes are a failed run capacitor (the compressor cannot start), low refrigerant from a leak, or a blocked airflow path — a filter loaded with dust, a dirty evaporator coil, or a collapsed flex duct. A frozen evaporator coil produces the same symptom and is almost always downstream of one of those three.
